Sally, a seasoned facilitator, has been part of writing groups for over 15 years and is excited to lead a group at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center! If you are looking for a collaborative environment that will allow you to explore the depths of your creativity, this is the class for you! Each week you will participate in writing exercises that will allow you to grow your confidence as a writer. Come with a journal, laptop or whatever writing tool works best for you! My hope is that you leave this class with a bit more trust in your voice, and minimal ink stains 😊.

  • Week 1: Basic writing exercises. (Establish group expectations, practices and have a bit of fun!)
  • Week 2: Developing Characters
  • Week 3: Creating spaces that enhance your story.
  • Week 4: Dialogue: What are your characters trying to say?

About the Instructor

Sally Sheehan

For the first 15 years of my career, I worked in experiential education, traveling internationally and across the USA with various outdoor schools, summer camps, and educational programs. Although the industry isn't the most lucrative, the rewards are truly special. Creativity has always been a strong suit of mine, and finding work that allowed me to use this gift felt incredibly fortunate. I loved crafting spontaneous poems to entertain fifth graders during rainy hikes, telling stories around campfires, and leading writing circles where young minds could explore their creative potential.

My minor in Creative Writing unexpectedly paved the way for this career path, and I am deeply grateful for that experience. I am excited to bring my passion for facilitating, creating, and collaborating to the Clifton Cultural Arts Center this fall.
