Is your preschooler ready for their first summer camp experience? My First Summer Camp is designed especially for ages 3–5, offering a warm and nurturing environment where children can discover the joy of hands-on projects, playful outdoor moments, and cozy rest times—at a pace perfectly suited for preschoolers. Throughout the week, they’ll experiment with colors and textures, share laughter with new friends, and build confidence in their budding independence. Guided by caring instructors who celebrate every small success, your child will savor their first taste of camp life without feeling rushed, making cherished memories that blossom naturally, day by day.
Ages 3 – 5
June: Samantha Vance is a local watercolor/mixed media artist and certified PK-12 art teacher. She loves working with kids of all ages and experimenting, both at school and at home! Her favorite paintings are wild and colorful, and her educational philosophy is that “art is about having fun, trying new things, and making mistakes. There is no wrong way to create!” She lives in Cincinnati with her dog, 2 cats, husband, and baby-to-be.
July: Melinda Welch earned her Master’s degree and teaching license in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati’s school of Design Architecture, Art and Planning. Melinda’s Masters thesis focused on developing a visual arts curriculum for a community arts center. Her passion is sharing art experiences with people of all ages. Currently, Melinda is teaching for the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, substitute teaching for Cincinnati Public Schools and leading art programs around the Cincinnati area. Melinda is an active and experienced artist who works in ceramics, photography, collage and whatever else strikes her artistic fancy. She and her husband reside in Camp Washington with their two children.
August: Jessica Geary has been sharing her love for art with students for 11 years. She has experience teaching preschool, after-school programming, and a variety of art classes. Jessica is passionate about helping students discover their own creative spark and strives to make art fun and accessible for everyone. She delights in seeing students explore different mediums, from drawing to sculpture and everything in between. Jessica believes art is about expressing individuality and experimenting with new ideas. Her classes focus on building skills while encouraging each student to develop their unique style. She is dedicated to guiding and supporting students as they take creative risks and find joy in their artistic journey. When she's not teaching, Jessica enjoys spending time in local coffee shops, embracing her role as a mom to four children, cherishing moments with friends and family, and pursuing her own artistic endeavors. Always eager to learn new things, she brings that enthusiasm back to the classroom to inspire her students.
