Uma Sivaprasad
I discovered Nia in 2003 during my quest for an exercise program that I would stick to for more than three months. 20+ years later, I still love every minute of the magic that is Nia. Being a trained scientist, I find that Nia helps balance out my logical and practical side.
Nia is a creative, expressive, and therapeutic movement form that leaves me feeling energized, centered and happy. With each class, I continue to grow and refine my teaching practice and am excited to witness my class evolve into a community of dancers that find joy in movement.
Mary Singler
The beauty that Nia brings out in individual students inspires me to teach this lovely form of movement. I see a hand bent with age offer a heart felt gesture; I see an athletic expression of energetic movement – both movements are gifts. I’ve been fascinated with encouraging health both professionally and personally. My master’s degree is in health promotion with a focus in cardiorespiratory fitness. I am a certified exercise physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and am certified to teach (and currently also teach) yoga, strength training, and indoor cycling. In my opinion, Nia is one of the best ways to sustainably condition the body.
CCAC’s scholarship program was created so that everyone has access to the arts and can express themselves. Students may receive scholarships of up to $100 per session (Spring, Summer, and Fall) based on availability by filling out a simple form.
Support for CCAC's scholarship program comes from the Gerald H. Fitzgerald Scholarship Fund and contributors like you.
