From Life to Stage: Building Your Story into a Monologue
Have you ever felt like your story mattered—but weren’t sure how to tell it? This five-week acting class is designed for novice actors ready to explore the power of their own voice and experiences.
In this transformative, beginner-friendly course, students will learn the fundamentals of acting while developing an original monologue rooted in their personal life story. Through guided exercises in storytelling, emotional connection, character development, and stage presence, participants will gain the tools and confidence to bring their truth to life.
Each week builds upon the last—starting with discovering your story, shaping it into a compelling narrative, and learning how to perform it with authenticity and intention. By the end of the course, students will have crafted a fully developed monologue and will showcase their work in a final performance.
No prior acting experience is required—just a willingness to be open, creative, and courageous.
What to Expect:
- A safe and supportive environment for self-expression
- Introduction to basic acting techniques
- Step-by-step guidance in writing and refining a personal monologue
- Coaching on delivery, emotion, and stage presence
- A final performance opportunity in Week 5
Come as you are—and leave with a story that’s been seen, heard, and honored.

R. Miranda Burke
R. Miranda Burke is a creative visionary, storyteller, and woman of faith. She is the founder of DearDotNettieMae, established in 2008 and named in honor of her grandmothers, whose legacy inspired her passion for storytelling and impact.
Through DearDotNettieMae Theater Productions, Miranda wrote, directed, and produced stage plays and immersive experiences that combined entertainment with purpose—bringing awareness to mental health and creating space for meaningful conversations. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, she blended her love for theater, education, and psychology to reach audiences beyond traditional spaces.
In 2025, Miranda closed the chapter of DearDotNettieMae, choosing to fully step into her faith. While her love for theater remains, she has embraced a new calling in ministry.
She is now the host of the Christ-centered podcast All The Way Extra, launching in April 2026—a platform dedicated to encouraging others to live boldly, surrendered, and unapologetically for Christ.
